Disney's Research Hub Creates a Wheeled Robot That Can Climb Walls

Created in partnership between Disney and ETH Zurich, the VertiGo is a nimble, four-wheeled robot that has been developed with the uncanny ability to effortlessly scale walls. The way it does this is at once ingenious and old-fashion — two articulating propellers not only provide forward thrust to the robot, but can also push the gadget against the wall to prevent it from falling. This means that the robot can effectively scale any surface no matter how uneven, until its batteries run out. Check out the robot in action above, and click here for more robot action.

WATCH AN ANIMATED VERSION OF THE WU-TANG CLAN/BILL MURRAY HEIST

ProbCause has graced our pages before as a rapper (the Chicago artist has worked with Action Bronson and Chance the Rapper), but he returns today as an animator.

You should be pretty familiar with this Wu-Tang/Bill Murray/Martin Shkreli space opera we’ve been suffering through, and ProbCause was inspired enough to team up with Elijah Alvarado to create an animated story of the heist, which is, sadly, still fictional.

The two expertly use sampled dialogue from Murray’s movies and Wu-Tang clips, and even sneak in an unveiled jab at Donald Trump and his mouth at the end. Nice one.

Kendrick Lamar Brings Fan On Stage to Rap His Song, Fan Drops His New Single Instead

During a recent concert in Houston, Kendrick Lamar pulled a fan on stage as part of a skit to help him recite lyrics. Instead, the concert-goer, who goes by the name "Corporate Dough," didn't quite recite the lyrics to Kendrick's song, but instead, dropped his new single off the rip. Pretty hilarious, you can watch above while a closer angle of the performance can also be seen here.

Meet the Animator Behind Star Wars, Jurassic Park & Starship Troopers

Phil Tippett is not a name many outside the world of animation are familiar with, but he is responsible for designing and bringing to life some of the most iconic creatures of films from the last four decades, most notably the Star Wars trilogy, Jurassic ParkStarship Troopers, RoboCop, and even consulting on the Twilight franchise. In this documentary, VICE covers the journey of the Oscar and BAFTA-winning stop-motion animator from an “idiot” (in Tippett’s own words) who created primitive stop-motion sequences using G.I. Joe toys and an 8mm film camera to the scorn of his parents, to his LSD trip on the set of Return of the Jedi, and his near-death experience during Jurassic Park, and to today where Tippett devotes all of his time and effort to what will be his dystopian magnum opus, Mad God. While the likes of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have reaped most of the credit and publicity for these blockbusters, we ultimately have Tippett to thank for bringing these concepts to life and inspiring the far-fetched dreams of multiple generations of children.

After collaborating with French Montana for “Dealer Plated”, rapper Belly joins fellow Canadian and XO comrade The Weeknd for his “Might Not” music video. The track is part of Belly’s Up For Days mixtape, which was released back in May with Roc Nation. The visuals for the track include the duo traipsing around a house in a drunken stupor, partying alongside scantily-clad women. The surreal second half of the video features Belly underwater as he chases a bottle of pills into a bathtub that morphs into an ocean. Artfully-shot scenes of women surround him as he returns to the party with The Weeknd in a drug-fueled haze. Watch the video for “Might Not” above.

Adele's '25' Official First Week U.S. Sales: 3.38 Million

It’s official: Adele’s 25 album sold 3.38 million copies in its first week in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music. That’s the largest single sales week for an album since Nielsen began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. 25 is the first album to sell more than 3 million copies in a week in Nielsen history, and only the second to surpass 2 million sold in a single frame.
Nielsen Music’s tracking week runs from Friday to Thursday each week, so 25’s opening frame ended at the close of business on Nov. 26. The new set, which is Adele's third studio album, was released on Nov. 20 through XL Recordings/Columbia Records.
Earlier in the week, 25 beat the previous single-week sales record, held by *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, when it launched with 2.42 million sold (in the week ending March 26, 2000). 25 is also just the 20th album to sell at least a million copies in a week. In addition, 25 is already the biggest selling album of 2015 (surpassing the 1.8 million sold of Taylor Swift’s 1989).
25 will debut atop the Billboard 200 albums chart dated Dec. 12, marking the singer/songwriter’s second No. 1. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the chart is scheduled to be announced on Nov. 29, along with 25’s total consumption figure for the week.
25 follows Adele’s 21, which racked up 24 nonconsecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200 (the longest run at No. 1 for a woman in the chart’s history) and has sold 11.2 million in the U.S. It’s the 10th-largest selling album in Nielsen history.

Family Guy parodies Cersei’s “Walk of Shame”

Family Guy parodied Cersei Lannister’s Walk of Shame from Game of Thrones Season 5. You remember the one, right? How could anyone forget Cersei’s head creepily bobbing up and down as it was added to a double’s naked body in post-production? I still have nightmares about that scene, and it has nothing to do with the loads of garbage and human feces thrown at her.
Anyway, Game of Thrones turns up in this cutaway gag from the latest episode of Family Guy, “Hot-Pocket Dial,” which aired on November 22. As you can see, Quagmire is Cersei, and Peter is Septa Unella. This is fun.

Have A Look Inside The Stormtrooper Dressing Room Of 'The Force Awakens'

In an upcoming preview of WIRED‘s 01.16 issue, the publication takes us behind the scenes ofThe Force Awakens set and into the stormtrooper dressing room. In the images, we receive an unprecedented look at the updated vision of costume designer Michael Kaplan (Blade Runner, Star Trek). Discussing his inspiration, Kaplan describes an aesthetic inspired by the iPhone in his pocket: “With time, I think, simplification occurs. Because the stormtroopers are white and plasticky, my thoughts did go to Apple.” Opting for a much sleeker rendering of the costumes, Kaplan has replaced any bumps and nodules in favor of clean lines and floating faceplates. Although modernized, the revised stormtroopers retain the distinct spirit of the original films, showcasing the evolution of a world established over almost 40 years.

The Daily Lives Of Superheroes And Villains By Daniel Picard

Canada-based photographer Daniel Picard LOVES pop culture. He loves it so much, in fact, that he’s created an extensive photo series exploring what some of our favorite superheroes, supervillains and pop-culture characters might look like if they lived everyday lives just like ours.
The models in most of his photos are drawn from his collectible figure collection. Unlike common action figures, these collectibles can often stand up to the scrutiny of a close-up photoshoot. Picard then digitally adds them to his final photos. These photos can be found in his Figure Fantasy book, which is available on Amazon.
Picard has a unique approach to this genre, but he’s not the only on to use it.Edy Harjo and Rémi Noël are two other photographers who have successfully used this technique

100 Years: The Movie Trailer [The Movie You Will Never See]

John Malkovich and director Robert Rodriguez have teamed up with LOUIS XIII Cognac to make 100 Years, a movie that predicts what life will be like 100 years in the future. The dynamic film-makers have also decided that the movie won’t be released until the year 2115, which means nobody who’s reading this will be able to see it. However, whether or not the movie is real or just a publicity stunt organized by LOUIS XIII Cognac to illustrate all the hard work put into making each bottle remains to be seen. Either way, the concept is pretty cool.
