Walt Disney Animation has announced that Wreck It Ralph 2 will be hitting cinemas on 9 March, 2018. Star John C. Reilly will return to voice the lead character and Sarah Silverman will once again take the role of the Vanellope von Schweetz.
"From the moment we started working on the first Wreck-It Ralph, we knew there were so many possibilities with these characters," said Rich Moore (Zootopia, The Simpsons), who will co-direct the film alongside Phil Johnston. "This time, Ralph’s wrecking wreaks havoc on the Web—as only he can do. Characters we loved in the first film are back and we are ecstatic to be working with them—and the actors who voice them—once again."
The original Wreck It Ralph brought in over $470 million worldwide for the studio and received pretty strong reviews from critics, so rumours of a sequel have been floating around for a while now. Rich Moore also shared that Disney has been in talks with Nintendo to allow some of their signature characters to make an appearance in the sequel. No doubt more news on that will be unveiled in the coming months.
