After an unsuccessful battle with cancer, David Bowie has unfortunately passed away at the age of 69. A stement posted on Bowie's official social media accounts read: "David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief." The legendary singer-songwriter was iconic in many areas of music in his 40-plus-years career, and had just released his 25th album, Blackstar, on his birthday (January 8.) Rest in peace to the great and our prayers are with his family and fans at this time of loss.
